The 2028 order book is shorter on detail — several ships are under construction but not yet named or deployed. Here is what has been announced.
Dates change. New ships are sometimes delivered late and debut seasons get rearranged. Everything here was checked against cruise line announcements and trade reports in October 2026; confirm the current schedule before you book.
| Ship | Cruise line | Status (as announced) |
|---|---|---|
| Carnival Tropicale | Carnival Cruise Line | Fifth Excel-class ship, expected 2028; homeport to be announced |
| Celebrity Xcite | Celebrity Cruises | Sixth Edge-class ship, under construction in Saint-Nazaire, France, for 2028 |
| Seventh Oasis-class ship (name not yet announced) | Royal Caribbean | Under construction in Saint-Nazaire for 2028 |
| Final Prima-class ship (name not yet announced) | Norwegian Cruise Line | Planned for 2028 |
What This Means for You
Ships this far out usually open for booking about a year or more before their first sailing, once the line confirms the name, delivery date and maiden itineraries. Until then, the best move is to tell an advisor which ship you are interested in so you hear when sales open.
In the meantime, the same lines’ existing sister ships — earlier Excel-, Edge-, Oasis- and Prima-class ships — give you a very good idea of what the 2028 newcomers will be like.

Further Ahead
Cruise lines have announced more ships for the end of the decade, including additional World-class ships at MSC and Prestige-class ships at Regent, and Disney has said it plans a new class of mid-size ships. We add them here as names and dates are confirmed. For current deals on ships sailing today, see Wave Season.
