New Cruise Ships and New Itineraries
What is launching from 2026 to 2028, where it sails first, and whether to book it.
Ask About New ShipsWhat’s New at Sea
Every year a new wave of ships leaves the shipyards in Finland, France, Italy and Germany, and with them come new homeports, new itineraries and new ideas — bigger water parks on family ships, more space per guest on luxury ships, and new fuels such as LNG and hydrogen. This site tracks the new ships announced for 2026, 2027 and 2028 and the new routes they bring, and gives you honest advice on whether a brand-new ship is right for you.
Dates change. New ships are sometimes delivered late and debut seasons get rearranged. Everything here was checked against cruise line announcements and trade reports in October 2026; confirm the current schedule before you book.

Why New Ships Matter Even If You Never Sail One
- New homeports. When a new ship arrives, an older one often moves, opening fresh routes from other ports.
- New itineraries. Lines design maiden seasons around new destinations and new private-island stops.
- Value on older ships. Demand shifts to the newest ships, which can soften fares on familiar ones.
- Ideas that spread. Features that debut on a new ship are often added to older ones during refits.

New Ship Questions
What new cruise ships debut in 2027?
Announced 2027 debuts include Carnival Festivale, Royal Caribbean’s Hero of the Seas, Oceania Sonata, Explora IV, MSC World Atlantic, Norwegian Aura and Disney Believe. See new ships 2027 for details.
Should I book a new ship’s first sailings?
Inaugural sailings are exciting but carry more risk of delays and early teething problems. Many cruisers wait a few months. Our guide to sailing on a new ship weighs it up.
Are new ships more expensive?
Often, especially in the first season, because demand is high. Older ships on the same itinerary can be better value.
